Braintree Technologies Signs MoU with U Mobile at MWC Barcelona 2025
Braintree Technologies and U Mobile, Malaysia's second 5G network provider, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and deployment of 5G-enabled smart farming solutions aimed at transforming Malaysia's agriculture sector.
The MoU signing took place at the Malaysian Pavilion during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. The agreement was signed by U Mobile Chief Information Officer Neil Tomkinson and Braintree Technologies CEO Arif Makhdzir, and was witnessed by YB Puan Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Communications, and Dato' Sri Dr. Chee Hong Leong, Commission Member of MCMC.
The partnership leverages U Mobile's next-generation 5G network and Braintree's advanced smart farming robotic systems to create integrated solutions that enhance connectivity, improve resource management, and promote sustainable farming practices. Use cases to be demonstrated include:
- Precision farming for better crop condition monitoring
- Autonomous machinery for improved cost and operational efficiency
- Remote monitoring and management through IoT systems
- Data analytics and AI for risk mitigation
- AR/VR tools for knowledge sharing and operational training
